The gate of the God is the entrance to the spiritual realm that resides inside of the individual, but it may also be expressed as a physical location in the form of a shrine. One of the most interesting studies in religion can be undertaken by studying something that is not a religion, and that is the indigenous practice of Shinto in Japan.
