The 1821 Kedah Refugee Crisis: Sultan Ahmad's Penang Exile
In November 1821, a Siamese army under Phraya Nakhon Noi sacked Kota Kuala Kedah, forcing Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Halim Shah II to flee across the straits to Penang.
