Lake Ontario: The Dark Mysteries of the Great Lake

Lake Ontario is one of the world's great inland seas. Beneath its dark waters lie hundreds of shipwrecks, while its shores have long been associated with strange lights, ghost stories, mysterious creatures and tales of sailors who never came home. In this episode of The Tape Library, we explore the darker mysteries of Lake Ontario. From the notorious Marysburgh Vortex and the disappearance of the crew of the Bavaria, to the legend of the burning ship Nilfred and the strange story of the Sprite, Lake Ontario has accumulated a remarkable collection of stories over centuries of maritime history. We'll also investigate reports of strange lights over the lake, including a UFO sighting investigated by scientists from the University of Toronto, before turning to the lakes various monsters. And finally, we return to the real tragedy of Moses Dulmage, a young sailor who was lost on Lake Ontario during a violent autumn storm. His death became entwined with one of the Great Lakes' most enduring pieces of maritime folklore: the Witch of November. Some of these stories have plausible explanations. Others remain part of the folklore surrounding one of North America's most mysterious bodies of water. Everywhere has a ghost story. #LakeOntario #Paranormal #Mystery Learn More Legends and Lore of Lake Ontario by Susan P Gateley https://historiamag.com/the-graveyard-of-lake-ontario/ https://hauntedwalk.com/news/lake-ontarios-marysburgh-vortex/ https://astonishinglegends.com/astonishing-legends/2022/10/6/the-marysburgh-vortex https://domino.notl.com/sites/notl/NOTLCOTW.nsf/9b4d619f68caa9d385257e7d000d5b6d/68f395445ac06f4d8525803c0044fbfd/$FILE/HMS%20ONT%20Documentary%20SEPT%20NOTL%202016.pdf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Ontario_(1780) https://www.webstermuseum.org/blog/the-burning-ship-of-nine-mile-point https://tilife.org/BackIssues/Archive/tabid/393/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/2213/Stolen-by-the-Witch-of-November https://pehistsoc.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/2005-jan.pdf --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Support the channel with Patreon - www.patreon.com/thetapelibrary Do you have a supernatural story to share?
