From the poor souls damned to be turned into little more than tools for The Imperium Of Man, batteries for Mars or even worse fates further afield.

From slugs grown for specialty processing, criminals damned for their crimes against their betters and those poor few just unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

There are far worse things than death in the 41st millennium.
