This week: Summer Pressure

• School’s out, why are we feeling pressure? We can create additional pressure when we want to make to most of summer, with all the planning it entails.
• When you isolate yourself in your thoughts of all that you “need” to do, you end up feeling frustrated and alone.
• Plan before the day of! Asking spur of the moment what they want to do, will often not work well.
• You don’t have to ask your kids what they want to do all the time. Sometimes just making the plans for them, or allowing them their own plans is enough.
• How does Rebecca plan to break the pattern of summer pressure?
• The pressure you feel is most certainly self-imposed.
• Summer Fun is wonderful, but don’t forget the importance of downtime.
• For bigger plans like a vacation- start early, and have discussion.
• Prioritize! Make time for the important things on your list.
• Make a list of what everyone wants to do this summer and make plans.
• What does Rebecca feel about Summer Bucket Lists?
• Remember not to compare and despair. Other families might be doing more than you. Use that to feel inspired rather than a failure.
• Consider financial expenditures. There are lots of fun things to do that are free. You can indulge in regular things like coffee or nails, but limit yourself.
• Be sure to recognize and appreciate the things you are doing right!
