Today, the Second Sunday of Easter is Sunday of the Divine Mercy. The Polish nun St. Maria Faustina Kowalska wrote in her Diary that Jesus wanted this feast as "a refuge and a shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners."

The Son of God also requested a picture be painted according to the vision of Himself as the fountain of mercy.

He gave her a chaplet to be recited — the Divine Mercy Chaplet. In her diary, Sister Faustina wrote: "My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy."
