August 15, 2022, Solemnity of the Assumption, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)

Friends of the Rosary:

Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

"The Immaculate Mother of God, the ever-virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heaven." With these words, in 1950, Pope Pius XII proclaimed the Assumption of Mary as a dogma — a truth revealed by God.

The Ever-Virgin Mary had a life, fullness of grace from the first moment of her existence, untouched by sin. Her Assumption completed God’s work in her: it was not fitting that the flesh that had given life to God should ever undergo corruption.

The Assumption is the exaltation of the Mother of the Savior and crowning of her work. The Assumption looks to eternity and gives us hope that we, too, will follow Our Lady when our earthly life is ended.
