We start 2022 by celebrating, along with the New Year’s Day, the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God — observed as a day of obligation.

This way, we sanctify the day in Christ and Mary.

“Mary is the masterwork of the mission of the Son and the Spirit in the fullness of time,” explains the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

In the plan of salvation, “the Father found the dwelling place where his Son and his Spirit could dwell among men,” as the Catechism states.
