Today, Saturday 26, is the Memorial day of St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, a Spaniard priest who founded Opus Dei almost a century ago to promote the sanctification of the faithful through daily work.

Canonized a saint in 2002 by John Paul II, Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer preached the universal call to holiness. He envisioned that everyday life, with its customary activities, is a path towards holiness.

"He was the saint of the ordinary," as John Paul II described.

Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer also founded the University of Navarra and was a big devout of Our Lady of Fatima.
