[Comment: Watchful]
Friends of the Rosary:
Today, Tuesday of Holy Week, we read on the Gospel that Satan entered Judas the Iscariot (Jn 13:21-33, 36-38). This disciple — who spent years with Jesus, sharing his fellowship, learning the truth, and witnessing all kinds of miracles and wonders — suddenly embraced evil and became the betrayer.
How was that even possible? It's what scholars call the mysterium iniquitatis, the mystery of evil, our irrational tendency to darkness.
The Holy Spirit, through St. Peter, explained to us (1 Peter 5:8) that "the Enemy, the Devil, is like a roaring lion, looking for someone to attack and devour." For that, Peter advised being alert.
To stay awake and be on guard, we say in the "Our Father" prayer, "deliver us from evil". Also, we invoke the Virgin Mary, who crushed the head of the dragon. When we feel in danger, we say the Hail Mary and her Holy Rosary, our most effective tool. Demons flee when they hear the Marian prayer.
This Holy Week, let's be watchful and self-controlled while we reflect on the Mysteries of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection.
Ave Maria!
