Friends of the Rosary:
Today, November 30, the universal church celebrates the feast of the apostle and martyr St. Andrew, a fisherman from Bethsaida, in Galilee, and a former disciple of John the Baptist. He was the one who introduced his brother Peter to Jesus, saying, "We have found the Messiah" (Jn. 1:40-42). Andrew and John were the first disciples to follow the Lord.
He spread Christianity in Russia and Asia Minor in the first century. He was crucified by the Romans at Patras, in southern Greece, on a cross which was in the form of an "X". This type of cross has long been known as "St. Andrew's cross."
St. Andrew sacrificed daily to almighty God. For two days he hung on his X cross alive, unceasingly proclaiming the truth of Christ until he passed on to Him.
Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
St. Andrew Pray for Us!
