Renunciation in Modern Times

Renunciation in Modern Times is about loving God above all things and embracing bliss.

Kriyananda says that renunciation today is different than in the dark ages, when renunciates would lock themselves up in cells, renouncing the world and everything in it. For us now, renunciation is a state of being where we love God above all else, and in experience Him in everything.

He reminds us that although we do live in the world, we must first live in our hearts for God. If we serve God in our relationships and all of our activities, we can live with an inwardness that includes outer realities. We can affirm the world from a higher level, and love all for God’s sake.
