Toddler independence, sleeping through the night & is social media the new smoking?!

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, happy Wednesday!! As you watch this, we are likely on our way back from Vancouver, woo! You guys know we've always said we think travel unlocks milestones.. and WOW did we notice it on this trip. Tate is truly in her independent toddler era (BIG time on doing everything herself, it's so sweet 🥹) and our Rocket Man slept 8 HOURS through the night?! (YAY)

OK we started with a little update from Harrison's golf tournament: gimmes were allowed per the tournament rules, but he wants you all to know he did NOT take any. (This is Jules now… while we were recording, I was thinking about how funny it would be if he DID take a gimme and one of you caught it on camera.. like he truly can't take one for the rest of his life lol. I would have said this on the pod if I wasn't on the phone hehe)

I feel like we were getting a little philosophical this episode?? Here's the advice we're living by right now (had to share with the class). The Tweet of the Week says it best: you're allowed to be happy while you're still figuring it out.. stop delaying joy until life looks a certain way!! Plus our new motto that trying is COOL. And Harrison ties it together with the reminder that there's no such thing as overnight success: behind every one is ten years of preparing, so date an idea before you marry it! OK you guys can totally take or leave all of this, but we're taking all of it into the new school year (bc we feel like this is another New Year's Day??)

Then we get into the real topics: is social media the new smoking?! We talk about how social media is following the big tobacco playbook.. engineered to hook you, marketed to kids, and downplaying the harms while the evidence piles up. Then Gen Z is officially changing their majors because of AI: 22% have already switched, and Harrison shares why he thinks that might be the wrong move (skills over specialization!). And finally, a DOGTV follow-up you didn't know you needed: it's REAL, we pulled the funding history live, and we had to ask.. is it possible for dogs to have too much screentime?!
