The Crazies (1973 & 2010) - With Special Guests Andrew Austin & Mark Christopher Covino

Anyone who has listened to the podcast for even just a little bit knows that we like having a theme for our episodes each month (whether or not we are able to always stick to that theme is a different story...but, in general we like themes).  The theme for April was supposed to be Chattanooga Film Festival coverage, but (like everything else) it had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  So, as one of our ways of coping with the current situation, our theme for the next several episodes (excluding the History of Cinema episode for the 1940s) will be movies related to disease/outbreaks/pandemics/etc.  There will be four different kinds of movies that we plan to cover within this theme: 1) Directly related to disease/outbreaks. 2) Undead (zombies, vampires, etc.) - since practically every film about the undead (in part) involves fear of diseases. 3) Movies that capture the theme/tone, but not directly related to disease or the undead.  This is where disaster/apocalypse movies would go. 4) Movies that don't really have anything to do with any of the above, but are just movies that we enjoy that help us temporarily forget about the current situation. So, kicking off this impromptu series is a double dose of The Crazies (both the 1973 & 2010 versions).  And what better way to discuss The Crazies than with a couple of our favorite crazies, Andrew Austin and Mark Covino!!  And if you've ever listened to one of the episodes with Mark and Andrew, you shouldn't be too surprised that things do, in fact, go a bit off the rails on this crazy train...
