Summer Discoveries with Matt Sidhom (Season 9, Episode 1)

Welcome to the Season 9 premiere of What Are You Listening To?! Host Jen Tully kicks off the new season with friend, frequent co-host, and Super Awesome Mix network co-founder Matt Sidhom. To launch the season, Jen and Matt dive into four incredible songs they discovered over the summer that became instant favorites.

In this episode, the hosts explore:

• Idris Elba’s Musical Persona: Discovering Chip, Keys N Krates, and Spice's track "Rise Up" (featuring Idris Elba), exploring his real-world DJ career, and taking a hilarious detour into Shaquille O'Neal's DJ Diesel moniker.
• The One-Man Grassroots Powerhouse: Michigander’s indie anthem "Breaker Box," unpacking songwriter Jason Singer’s old-school approach to booking shows and analyzing the song's melancholic horn outro.
• The New "Cool Girl" Icon: Audrey Hobart’s infectious ACL Fest standout "Sue Me," highlighting her witty breakup lyrics, rapid-fire vocal delivery, and authentic stage presence.
• A Hobart Family Plot Twist: Audrey's younger brother Malcolm Todd and his smooth, funky track "Earrings," complete with a end-of-song nod to custom mixtapes.
