Summary:
He killed his father, and now he must pay the price. Stefan Wishart, heir prince of Angliana, wants only one thing: the approval of the man who should have been his father. At age 10, when he overhears a conversation between his parents - the queen and prince consort - he learns the reason for the prince's antipathy toward him. Stefan's not his real son. He's the bastard child of a pirate. Nine years later Stefan's mother runs off with the infamous pirate by way of magical beads that promise to give the wearer anything they desire...at a cost. If the beads granted his mother's wish, wouldn't they grant his? If he kills the pirate - his real father - he could gain the approval he's always longed for. Everything goes smoothly until the moment he gets what he wants and suddenly finds himself on the Island of Lost Souls, where fate holds him hostage as he relives his pirate father's heinous memories. There is a chance Stefan could reverse his terrible fate and find redemption. Or, more likely, be damned by the gods of retribution forever. Either way he's running on borrowed time.
