Several personality traits such as neuroticism mixed with extraversion may put one at a heightened risk of needing more Likes, re-Tweets, tags, and DM’s. Those notifications act as a runaway source of positive reinforcement, creating a vicious cycle of dependency. This can have a substantial negative impact on one’s relationships, work, and daily routine. Fortunately, some simple environmental arrangements and plans with a trained professional have begun to show some success to create a happy balance of use.
