SEC Preparing a Proposal to Drop Quarterly Earnings Reports

The Journal has learned that the Securities and Exchange Commission is working on a proposal that would drop a requirement that companies report their earnings every quarter. Publicly traded companies in the U.S. have reported results every three months for the past more than 50 years.
