Child obesity is linked to numerous physiological, psychological and social conditions such as: decreased quality of life, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, depression, low self-esteem, teasing and death. With the epidemic of childhood obesity on the rise in the US, this scale was designed to aid health professional’s identify overweight children who may be at the greatest risk of becoming overweight adults.
