Dr. Jeanine cook-Garard talks about emergency room traumas, the surgeries that can help, and how it compares to what you see in medical dramas on TV with Dr. Gerard Baltazar, a trauma and acute care surgeon at NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola and an assistant professor of NYU School of Medicine. Before joining Winthrop’s team, most of Dr. Baltazar’s surgical work has been in underserved communities of East New York, Newark and the Bronx as well as mission work in Haiti, the Philippines and South America.
