Wallis shows how the plural behavior of the elohim, taking plural verbs, arguing over how intelligent humans should be, and even conflicting over how much technology we should hold, matches the sky people of Sumerian tablets, the Anunnaki, and the engineers of Mesoamerican stories. He walks through other key translation switches, including ruach, usually rendered as spirit but rooted in the idea of something that creates a strong wind, which he reads as a craft hovering over the waters and terraforming the planet. The book of Ezekiel, he points out, describes what the ruach looked like, sounded like, and how it moved.

He also reveals that the early church fathers, including Clement of Alexandria, Irenaeus, Justin Martyr, and Origen, held Plato's view of beginnings: that consciousness came first, that life on Earth was evolving happily, and that beings from somewhere else landed here and genetically modified our ancestors for greater consciousness and intelligence. That belief, Wallis says, was fully compatible with their reading of the Bible because of translation.
