Frankenstein - Chapter 9 | Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly | Audiobook + Discussion

Frankenstein by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley — Chapter 9

Crushed by guilt after the deaths of William and Justine, Victor finds no comfort in his family’s grief or in the peaceful beauty surrounding him. Restless nights on Lake Geneva give way to a journey toward the Alpine valley of Chamounix, where immense mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, and the raging Arve offer fleeting relief from his despair.

Yet even amid the grandeur of the Alps, Victor cannot escape the fear that the being he created may bring further suffering to everyone he loves. Nature briefly soothes him, but remorse and dread remain close behind.
