Today, Peter poses a fundamental question: If you know that the world and everything in it will be destroyed by fire, how should you live? This is a common-sense question, and Peter offers a straightforward answer: Live holy and righteously before the Lord. This involves a process of setting ourselves apart, discerning what is temporary and what is eternal. We must understand what we need to let go of and what we should hold onto.
