In today’s episode, I’m sharing my thoughts on Our Christmas Journey (2021), a heartfelt holiday film starring Holly Robinson Peete that follows a mother navigating a new chapter for her autistic son while reconnecting with her ex husband.
Set in a cozy small town just days before Christmas, this story blends familiar holiday elements like markets, wreath making, and family traditions with something much deeper.
This is not just a Christmas movie. It is a story about transition, motherhood, relationships, and what it looks like to let go while still holding on.
If you’re in the mood for something warm, meaningful, and emotionally honest, this might be for you.
Quick note, my voice does get a little raspy in this episode because I was getting over being sick last week, so thank you for bearing with me.

Watch When:
Watch when you want something deeply meaningful and emotionally grounded.
This is a cozy Christmas movie, but it is not a light one. It is best watched when you have the space to really sit with it.
Also a good nighttime watch if you want something calm and slow paced.
Cozy Reflection:
This is a very cozy movie in terms of setting and atmosphere.
Christmas markets, wreath making, guest house stays, and quiet family moments all bring that warm holiday feeling.
But emotionally, this one goes much deeper.
It sits in that space where it is comforting, but also very real.
Why This Story Matters:
This movie felt personal.
It is one of the few times I have seen something that reflects the real experience of raising a child with autism, while also trying to show up for your other children and maintain relationships.
It is not just about autism. It is about life, responsibility, love, and the weight that can come with all of it.
