She joins us at the tail end of her latest stand-up tour, No Kissing in the Bingo Hall, and following her iconic appearance in Last One Laughing.
Earlier this year Lou launched a brand new podcast, A Psychic Told Us To Do It, with her best friend Georgie Bayford. The show puts Lou’s passion for the spiritual front and centre, featuring chats about pet psychics, witchcraft, holistic foot therapy and manifesting. Ewan McGregor, Charley Boorman, tomahawk steak and a Cabernet Sauvignon
Nick and Angela greet good friends who love to travel on two wheels.
Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman bring their passion for adventure to Dish following the release of their latest TV show, Long Way Home. Their fourth motorcycle trip together sees them plot a path through 17 European countries on two vintage bikes. The Long Way series began in 2004 when the pair embarked on an epic route from London to New York, via Asia, in Long Way Round. Each trip they take is characterised by beautiful landscapes, chance encounters, good (and not so good) food and Charley and Ewan’s close friendship.
Ewan McGregor has been on our screens since his acting debut in 1993. His hugely successful career includes unforgettable roles in Trainspotting, Shallow Grave, Star Wars, Salmon FIshing in the Yemen and Moulin Rouge!. Charley, who met Ewan on a film set in 1997, is well known for his TV adventures, including By Any Means, which saw him travel from Ireland to Australia using any modes of transport he could find. He has also participated in the Dakar Rally, known to be one of the world’s toughest and most dangerous motorsport competitions.
There’s not a lot of room to spare on this week’s table, with a feast of food and drink to tempt our guests. At Ewan’s request, Angela serves a slice of nostalgia in the form of Melba toast with chicken liver pâté, smoked mackerel pâté and pâté de campagne, before bringing out the haggis bon-bons. Drinks are negronis, tweaked by Charley, who suggests switching the gin for tequila, and a Pentire coastal spritz for Ewan. This is followed by an epic tomahawk steak with spicy dipping sauce and fries, paired with a glass of Journey's End Sir Lowry Cabernet Sauvignon.
After arriving on motorbikes (a Dish first), Charley and Ewan quickly settle at the Dish table, where chat moves from boiled egg banter to bagpipes and classic Mongolian hospitality. Charley shares one of his favourite recipes and Ewan reminisces on an unforgettable meeting with Delia Smith. The episode finishes with Nick and Angela checking out the bikes, a moment you can watch on our YouTube channel as part of the full episode.

Fearne Cotton, roast cauliflower with chicory salad and a fiery lime margarita
Nick and Angela welcome a brilliant broadcaster to our very own happy place.
Fearne Cotton is a TV and radio broadcaster and founder of the hugely successful Happy Place universe. Fearne, who grew up in Hillingdon, West London began her career at the age of 15 presenting kids TV show, The Disney Club. She went on to present shows including Diggit, The Saturday Show and The Xtra Factor, and cohosted Top of the Pops with Reggie Yates from 2004. Fearne is a great friend of Nick’s and worked alongside him at BBC Radio 1, where she hosted Live Lounge in the mid-morning slot.
Fearne currently presents Sounds of the 90s on BBC Radio 2, but is arguably best known for her Happy Place podcast, which has just celebrated its seventh birthday. She joins us to chat about the Happy Place Festival, which takes place in London’s Gunnersbury Park on 12 and 13 July, and in Cheshire’s Tatton Park on 30 and 31 August. The festival is full of inspiring guest talks, podcast recordings, yoga and workshops.
Angela provides plenty of happy plates in this episode, serving Fearne roast cauliflower with dates, spiced chickpeas, preserved lemons & green tahini with chicory salad, which is paired with a glass of No.1 Beaujolais Villages. Before the arrival of the main course, Fearne is handed a fiery lime margarita, which goes down a treat.
It’s no surprise that this week feels like good mates catching up as Fearne and Nick share some of their more random tales of pop star interviews. Nick Frost, spicy barbecued lamb and a Shiraz
Angela and Nick welcome an actor who definitely knows his way around a kitchen.
Nick Frost is an actor, comedian and screenwriter and the first (and possibly only) participant in a Dish chop-off! Frost joins us after the release of his new film, How To Train Your Dragon, a live action remake of the hugely popular animated film series, based on Cressida Cowell’s books. The movie sees him star as the popular blacksmith Gobber alongside Gerard Butler, Mason Thames and Nico Parker.
You will know Nick Frost from a range of TV and film roles, including the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End) alongside his good pal and long-time collaborator Simon Pegg. Frost also appeared with Pegg in the cult TV comedy Spaced. Other TV and film credits include Attack the Block, Paul, Truth Seekers, Green Wing, The Adventures of Tintin and Fighting With My Family, alongside costar Florence Pugh.
Nick loves life in a kitchen, having worked as a chef before getting into acting. His passion for food is beautifully detailed in his memoir/recipe book, A Slice Of Fried Gold, which is now available in paperback.
Having met Angela once before, Frost finally gets to have a full conversation with her (and Nick) over a delicious meal of spicy barbecued lamb with minty tomato & watermelon relish, with Angela marinating the meat overnight for extra flavour. Nick opts for a Fanta, but for wine-lovers our Waitrose experts recommend a glass of PepperBox Shiraz.
At our request, Nick brought his favourite kitchen knife to the record for a demonstration of his chopping skills alongside Angela. Our hosts dig into Nick’s passion for great tasting food (and clean surfaces), and get the lowdown on the world’s best pizza, discovered by Nick in Belfast.

Cynthia Erivo, roasted red pepper, aubergine, freekeh salad, and a Provence rosé
It’s all singing, dancing, chatting and eating at Dish this week.
Cynthia Erivo is a British actor, singer and songwriter, well known for her phenomenal vocals and performances on stage and screen. She comes to the Dish table to talk about her new album, I Forgive You; a 20-track record which tells her life story in four distinct parts and showcases the full range of her incredible voice. It’s released on 6 June, UK.
Erivo, who was born in Stockwell, London but now lives in Los Angeles, made her Broadway debut as Celie in The Color Purple alongside Jennifer Hudson, a role for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical and Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. She has also received two Best Actress Oscar nominations for her roles in Harriet (2019) and most recently Wicked! (2024) where she played Elphaba opposite Ariana Grande. Other notable projects include heist thriller Widows
the Netflix crime thriller Luther: The Fallen Sun, and the drama Drift.
To mark the start of June, Angela served the table a vegan roasted red pepper, aubergine & freekeh salad with additional courgettes (Angela’s favourite). As Cynthia doesn't drink, the trio enjoyed a glass of Real Peony Blush Non Alcoholic Sparkling Tea alongside it. For those that do want to match their salad with a glass of wine, the Waitrose experts suggest a glass of Eminence de Bijou.
We begin the episode by getting to know Cynthia’s love of vegan food, understanding her garlic allergy and dislike of the onion family (sorry, onion family). Over the salad, we learn more about her new record, including how Ariana Grande helped to make it happen and get a first-class demonstration of just how powerful her voice is. Dish welcomes an Irish singer-songwriter and champion of butter!
Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, known professionally as CMAT, is a highly engaging and thought provoking musician enjoying a career that goes from strength to strength.
She released her debut album, If My Wife New I’d Be Dead, in 2022 with its follow-up, Crazymad, for Me, arriving a year later and receiving a number of accolades, including a place on the Mercury Prize Shortlist. She arrives at the Dish table ahead of the launch of her new record, Euro-Country, which includes the single Running/Planning out on August 29.
It’s a busy summer for CMAT too, as she heads out on tour supporting Sam Fender across a run of dates before festival season, which includes a stop at Glastonbury with our Nick and Angela in the front row. The year then finishes with her album tour starting in October, including her biggest solo shows ever in Brixton and Dublin. Her energetic, fun live performances, with The Very Sexy CMAT Band, are not to be missed!
Angela delivers a Mexican-themed meal starting with guacamole, salsa and corn chips before a serving of Pescado a la Veracruzana – a one-pot wonder of a dish. It’s served alongside a Château de Berne Provence Rosé which is one of CMAT’s many food and drink passion points.
The trio get along famously, chatting about the brilliance of butter, the similarities between delivering a live music show and service at a restaurant and CMAT’s choice to go to New York to make her third record– all finished off with two excellent lookalike observations.

Natalie Portman, broccoli tabbouleh and a Paloma
Nick and Angela are joined by an Oscar winner for a vegan feast.
Natalie Portman is an award-winning actor, director and activist who has been making films since her first role at the age of 12 in Léon: The Professional. In a highly acclaimed career, she has also starred in Closer, Jackie, Thor, Star Wars (Episodes I, II and III) and the 2010 film Black Swan, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress.
She joins us to talk about her exciting new film Fountain of Youth, which is released on Apple TV+ on 23 May, UK. The action-packed movie, directed by Guy Ritchie, took its cast all over the world during production with shooting locations in Bangkok, Vienna, London and Cairo. Natalie is part of a star-studded cast including John Krasinksi, Domnhall Gleeson, Eiza González and Dish favourite Stanley Tucci.
Natalie joined us just before a trip back home to Paris and was delighted to be fuelled by an array of vegan plates... and a Paloma cocktail to start. Angela served a vegan version of Waitrose’s broccoli tabbouleh with preserved lemon & zaatar houmous and Lebanese baba ganoush. The wine experts at Waitrose suggest pairing the meal with Kaapzicht Granite Ridge Bush Vine Chenin Blanc.

Neneh Cherry, tagliatelle with peas, courgette & burrata, and a Gavi
Angela and Nick welcome a music icon and major food lover to the table.
Neneh Karlsson, better known as Neneh Cherry, is a singer, songwriter, broadcaster and activist. Cherry arrives at Dish HQ to talk about the paperback release of her memoir A Thousand Threads which recounts her life story through vivid tales of family, art, friendship and food. The book has recently been nominated for the Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction.
Neneh was born in Stockholm, Sweden before moving to New York and then, when she was 15, to London where she lives now. She first came to public attention in 1988 with her music and the groundbreaking single Buffalo Stance. In a career that has seen her release six albums and collaborate with the likes of Peter Gabriel, Cher and Gorillaz, she has won two BRIT Awards, a MTV Europe Music Award and has a Grammy nomination.
As part of a varied and always thought-provoking career, Neneh has also found time to hone her skills as a cook, and presented the TV cooking show Dish It Up with good friend Andi Oliver.
It’s a pasta day for Neneh on Dish as Angela serves tagliatelle with peas, courgette & burrata which the Waitrose wine experts suggest is perfectly paired with a glass of Waitrose Blueprint Gavi.
This episode sees Angela and Neneh meet for the first time, generating lots of mouth-watering and nostalgic food chat. Neneh shares her favourite food memories including being sent meatballs in the post, her favourite Swedish dish and also reflects on the word-of-mouth success of her book.

Dara Ó Briain, chicken karahi, profiteroles and a primitivo
Angela and Nick pull out all the stops for a quick-witted comedian.
Dara Ó Briain is an Irish comedian known for his incredible stand-up shows and TV-presenting prowess, including hosting BBC Two’s panel show Mock the Week, which ran for 17 years.
Held in sky-high esteem by the comedy world and its audience, Dara began working in children’s TV in 1994 after studying maths and theoretical physics at university. Through the 2000s, he continued to work in TV before channelling his efforts into stand-up comedy.
He joined us at Dish HQ to talk about his new tour Re:Creation which focuses on the search for his biological father. The tour, which runs across the UK and Ireland, follows a sold-out run of his last show at 173 venues in 20 countries. Dara simply loves performing live.
Off stage, Dara has a run of brilliant TV credits including presenting Stargazing Live, Robot Wars, Mock the Week and Comedy Central’s reboot of Blockbusters.
There were some great food options to choose from Dara’s list of likes, with Angela deciding on chicken karahi, a recipe by Ravneet Gill. This was accompanied by a glass of Paolo Leo Varietali Primitivo Puglia and, of course, we had to satisfy Dara’s sweet tooth with profiteroles adapted from Martha Collison’s recipe for the best éclairs.
As expected, Dara was a hugely entertaining guest, lifting the lid on how his stand-up comes together, his time on Mock the Week and the ups and downs of writing with wine.

Alex Horne, meatballs in tomato sauce and a primitivo
Nick and Angela welcome a master of his craft to Dish.
Alex Horne is an English comedian, writer and creator of the award-winning and highly original game show Taskmaster, which he cohosts with Greg Davies.
Horne, born in Chichester, began his comedy career as a student doing routines at open mic nights in Cambridge before appearing at his first Edinburgh Fringe in 2000. It was at the Fringe that Taskmaster came to life, before making its debut on our TV screens in 2009 (first on Dave and now on Channel 4). The show, now in its 19th season, has been broadcast in over 120 countries and recently was turned into a live immersive experience in London.
Alex, who lives in Chesham with his wife and three sons, is also the lead singer of The Horne Section, a ‘six-headed musical comedy band’, who have extended their UK and Ireland tour across the duration of 2025. They can also be seen on TV in the aptly titled The Horne Section TV Show, which returns for its second series later this year.
Nick, Angela and Alex start the episode over a Guinness with a side of Pringles, before enjoying meatballs in tomato sauce, a recipe by the one and only... Angela Hartnett. The perfectly crafted meatballs are served alongside a glass of Primitivo di Manduria Riserva.

Peter Serafinowicz, BLT pasta and a kombucha
This week’s Dish is packed with laughter as Angela and Nick are joined by a man of many talents.
Peter Serafinowicz is an actor, director, comedian and screenwriter who came to Dish armed with one of our longest ever list of food likes and dislikes. Serafinowicz, born in Liverpool, has made a big impression on TV viewers this year with his role as property developer Johannes in Amandaland. He’s also the host of the Netflix gameshow Million Dollar Secret, where an undercover millionaire has to hide in plain sight.
Peter’s substantial acting and TV credits are equal to his food likes list, with roles on both sides of the Atlantic in Parks and Recreation, The Simpsons, Star Wars, The Tick and, most famously, The Peter Serafinowicz Show, packed full of sketch comedy. He’s an excellent impressionist and is starting to spend more time live on stage, touring the UK in 2024 with his character Brian Butterfield.
As ever, Angela hits the mark, serving Peter BLT pasta. The Waitrose wine experts suggest pairing it with Jip Jip Rocks Shiraz, while in this episode, Peter, Nick and Angela enjoy a glass of Equinox Kombucha.

JADE, roast lamb, chargrilled green vegetables and a Rioja
It’s the Dish Easter special and Nick and Angela are joined for dinner by JADE.
JADE is a singer/songwriter already making her mark as a solo artist. Born and raised in South Shields, JADE was part of the chart conquering girl group Little Mix, who were formed on The X Factor in 2011. Little Mix went on to release six studio albums and won a BRIT Award for British Group in 2021 before going on hiatus. JADE has since released her debut single Angel of my Dreams, followed up by the single FUFN, the video for which stars our very own Nick Grimshaw.
JADE’s had a busy start to 2025 with a massive night at this year’s BRIT Awards, where she landed a huge performance and won her first BRIT as a solo artist. Alongside the release of her debut album, JADE is also due to perform at Glastonbury, with Nick and Angela hoping to be on the front row.
She is also a huge fan of roasts. And we mean huge.
Which is lucky because Angela has prepared two recipes by Paul Gamble; Roast lamb with boulangère-style vegetables and Chargrilled green vegetables with wild garlic salsa verde. This is accompanied by El Rayo Olarra Rioja Crianza. The conversation begins with a mojito, a cocktail making its Dish debut.
This episode is the perfect Easter lunch, with JADE bringing her passion for roasts, gravy and potatoes while looking back at her first steps as a solo artist - including that big night at the BRITs.

Gregory Porter, ribeye steak with three sauces and a Cabernario
On Dish this week, Nick and Angela welcome a Grammy Award winning musician to the table.
Gregory Porter is a much-loved jazz and soul singer who lives in Bakersfield, California with his wife and two sons. Porter rose to prominence in 2013 with the release of his third album, Liquid Spirit, which achieved huge commercial success and saw him win his first of two Grammy Awards. More recently, Gregory appeared on our TV screens as a giant Dressed Crab on The Masked Singer, finishing as runner-up.
Alongside his impressive back catalogue of releases, Porter’s live shows come highly recommended, powered by his rich, soulful and emotional vocals. He joins Nick and Angela ahead of his upcoming UK tour that includes four nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Brian Cox is a renowned Scottish actor whose career spans more than six decades. Born in Dundee, he was classically trained before becoming a key figure in British theatre. Brian Cox made history as the first actor to portray Dr Hannibal Lecter on screen in Michael Mann’s Manhunter in 1986. He went on to star in highly acclaimed films including Braveheart and The Bourne Identity.
On television, Brian Cox is now a cultural icon, thanks to his award-winning portrayal of media titan Logan Roy in Succession. Brian married his wife Nicole in 2002, and they have two sons.
Nicole Ansari-Cox is an actor, director and producer. Born in Cologne, she began acting at the age of nine with a breakthrough role in the German crime series Tatort. Her career includes roles in TV shows such as Deadwood and Succession. Nicole frequently shares the stage with her husband, including their current performance in The Score at Theatre Royal Haymarket.
Nick prepares the couple’s favourite cocktail, a frozen margarita, to start while Angela prepares roast trout with soy, orange and chilli, based on a sweet and spicy salmon recipe from Waitrose.

Nick and Angela celebrate Mother’s Day this week on Dish.
Stacey Dooley MBE is an investigative journalist, TV presenter and author. Born in Luton, she first appeared on television in Blood, Sweat and T-Shirts, a documentary exploring the realities of fast fashion in India. Stacey’s curiosity and empathy prompted the BBC to commission Stacey Dooley Investigates, which began in 2009. In recognition of her outstanding contribution to broadcasting, she was awarded an MBE in 2018. That same year, Stacey won Strictly Come Dancing, taking home the glitterball trophy with her dance partner and now long-term partner Kevin Clifton. The couple welcomed their daughter, Minnie, in 2023. Stacey’s new book Dear Minnie: Conversations with Remarkable Mothers is out now.
Angela provides some inspiration for Mother’s Day, with an afternoon tea-style menu. She prepares a delicious puttanesca puff tart (packed with all of Stacey’s favourite flavours) and Martha Collison’s triple cheese scones. The experts at Waitrose pair this with a Masi Campofiorin.

Broadcaster, comedian, writer and conductor Sue Perkins was born in South London. A Cambridge University graduate, Sue’s journey into comedy began when she joined the prestigious Footlights, where she met her friend Mel Giedroyc. The duo quickly made a name for themselves, hosting Channel 4’s Late Lunch and Light Lunch in the nineties, while also writing for the legendary French & Saunders and, later, Absolutely Fabulous in 2003.
Her biggest TV job to date came in 2010, when she and Mel cohosted The Great British Bake Off for seven wildly successful series. Outside of television, Sue’s broadcasting credentials include hosting Britain’s best-loved radio comedy Just A Minute on BBC Radio 4. You can watch her new TV show Chess Masters: The Endgame on BBC iPlayer and listen to her new podcast Mel and Sue: Should Know By Now on Audlibe.

Born in Pennsylvania, Billy Porter was always destined for greatness. In 1992 he won the TV show Star Search, scooping the $100,000 prize ahead of a very young Britney Spears. He took his talent to Broadway and in 2013 won a Tony Award for his portrayal of Lola in Kinky Boots. In 2018, Billy played Pray Tell in the BBC2 series Pose, a role that earned him critical acclaim and a Primetime Emmy Award. He released his memoir, Unprotected, in 2021. Billy Porter is currently starring in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club in London, alongside Marisha Wallace as Sally Bowles.

Chris O'Dowd is an award-winning actor, writer and director. He was born in Boyle, County Roscommon, and studied politics at University College Dublin, later enrolling at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Chris played Roy Trenneman in The IT Crowd on Channel 4, which helped him secure his Hollywood debut in Bridesmaids in 2011. He created and starred in Moone Boy in 2012, a semi-autobiographical, Emmy-winning series set in his hometown. Chris wrote, directed and acted in his new show Small Town, Big Story, a Sky original featuring Christina Hendricks Paddy Considine.

Born and raised in South-West London, Tom Holland’s career began on the West End, when he won the part of Billy Elliot in 2008. He went on to star in the critically-acclaimed film, The Impossible with Naomi Watts in 2012. He is best known for his role as Spider-Man and his first foray into the Marvel Universe came in Captain America: Civil War in 2016. Judi Love is one of five born to her Jamaican parents in Hackney, East London. Always the funny one in the family, she gained a Masters in social work before kicking off her career in stand-up. In 2011, she made her professional debut with a show named after her motto in life, Laughter Is Healing. Since then, Judi’s comedy and culinary skills have given rise to a broadcasting career. Born in Hammersmith, with Jamaican roots, Lashana Lynch showed promise from an early age, becoming the first girl to be cast as Pinocchio in West London. She began her working life as a singer but won a scholarship to drama school, which changed the course of her career. Sandi Toksvig OBE is a Danish-born comedian, broadcaster and writer. She spent her formative years travelling the world with her family, thanks to her father’s job as a foreign correspondent. Sandi has had a long and successful career in UK radio and television, which began in the eighties on kids TV. She is best known for presenting QI, taking over from Stephen Fry in 2016. She subsequently spent three years co-presenting The Great British Bake Off with Noel Fielding and Prue Leith. Sandi is a political activist and is one of the co-founders of the Women’s Equality Party. She has written more than 20 books and is here to talk about her latest novel, Friends of Dorothy.

Richard Armitage’s dream of becoming an actor began in his teens, in a circus in Budapest, where he slept within sniffing distance of the elephant enclosure to earn a much-needed Equity card. Having spent his early career on stage, his big break came in the BBC adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South in 2004. Richard went on to star in Spooks, before scoring roles in The Hobbit Trilogy and Ocean’s 8. Recently he has appeared in Netflix hits including Obsession and Fool Me Once, with Michelle Keegan.
Acting is not his only creative endeavour: Richard is also an author. His debut novel was a number 1 bestseller on Audible and his latest offering, The Cut, is out now.

Comedian Katherine Ryan hails from Ontario, Canada. She studied town planning at university in Toronto before making the move to the UK in 2008. Katherine is one of the hardest working comics on the circuit. She makes regular TV appearances on panel shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats, has recorded many live comedy specials and even has her own drama series, The Duchess, on Netflix. Katherine has a podcast called Telling Everybody Everything and she and her family have just filmed series 2 of At Home with Katherine Ryan. She is currently touring her new stand-up show, Battleaxe, around the UK and Europe.
Katherine enjoys a drink that is cold and clear, so Nick goes for an elderflower and mint martini while Angela is busy preparing a mouth-watering baked trout with chilli & ginger. The experts at Waitrose pair this with a Yalumba organic viognier from Southern Australia.

Josh Homme, grilled mackerel, beetroot and red onion salad and a Pouilly-Fumé
Josh Homme was born in Joshua Tree and grew up in Palm Desert, California. He founded Queens of the Stone Age in 1996 and is the lead singer, primary songwriter and guitarist in the band. Josh is one of the music industry's most prolific collaborators. Alongside Queens, he formed the supergroup Them Crooked Vultures in 2009 with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), and has produced music for Arctic Monkeys, Iggy Pop, Lady Gaga and many more. Queens of the Stone Age released their latest album, In Times New Roman, in 2023.
To mark the final episode of the series, Angela makes some extra-special dishes for Josh, while Nick mixes his favourite cocktail, a Corvette Summer. To start, Angela prepares bone marrow and a parsley salad, a recipe from chef Fergus Henderson’s book Nose to tail eating: A Kind of British Cooking. Danny Dyer and Ryan Sampson, slow-roast shoulder of lamb and an old-fashioned
Danny Dyer was discovered by a scout while at school in East London and landed his first acting role in Prime Suspect 3 in 1994. He gained a reputation for playing the tough guy and films like Human Traffic (1999) and The Football Factory (2004) put him on the road to stardom. Danny is most famous for his portrayal of Mick Carter in EastEnders from 2013 to 2022.
Ryan Sampson was born in Rotherham and studied acting at Drama Centre London. He began his career on stage in various theatrical productions. His big break came in 2013, when he played Grumio in the historical sitcom Plebs on ITV2. Ryan also appeared in Brassic with Michelle Keegan in 2019. Ryan wrote and stars in the new comedy series Mr Bigstuff with Danny Dyer.
As a sign of what’s to come, Danny and Ryan request a glass of something strong before they sit down at the Dish table. Nick obliges and pours some Edmundo Malbec, an Argentinian red, recommended by the experts at Waitrose. He then gets to work on their favourite cocktail, an old fashioned. Meanwhile, Angela is busy in the kitchen slow-roasting a shoulder of lamb with anchovies, oregano and garlic with roast potatoes.

Perrie Edwards hails from South Shields and has musical roots - her mum was a soul singer and her dad played in rock bands on the northern club scene for many years. Perrie had to be convinced to audition for The X Factor at 17, but went on to win the show with Little Mix in 2011. The band scored five UK number one singles and became the first British girl group since the Spice Girls to have a debut album enter the top five in the US. In 2022, Little Mix decided to take a hiatus from music to be with their families and now are pursuing solo projects.
Perrie released her debut single Forget About Us, written by Ed Sheeran, in April and her second single Tears is out now. She has been in the studio with RAYE working on her upcoming album, which is due for release later this year.

East London comedy and stage actor Kiell Smith-Bynoe studied drama and began gigging and writing sketch shows from a young age. His hit improv show Kool Story Bro sold out in London and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Kiell landed his first professional TV job on the ITV drama Whitechapel in 2012. He is best known for his roles in Stath Lets Flats on Channel 4 and in the much-loved BBC series Ghosts, which ended in 2023 after five series. Kiell can now add presenting to his list of skills, having taken over from Sara Pascoe as the new host of The Great British Sewing Bee on the BBC.

The Queen of Country Pop has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and won five Grammy awards, but her path to stardom was not easy. Growing up in poverty, Shania’s mother sent her out to sing in bars and clubs at a young age to make ends meet. Fame found her at 30 and, to this day, Shania Twain remains the only female artist to have three consecutive diamond albums in the US. Martin won a Bafta and an Emmy for Sherlock and last year scooped an International Emmy for his portrayal of Chris Carson in The Responder.
Tony Schumacher spent 12 years as a policeman in Liverpool before a period of poor mental health forced him to take stock. While on the road to healing, Tony tried his hand at stand-up comedy and, encouraged by his wife, decided to pursue his dream of becoming an author. Tony has written three novels and penned his critically-acclaimed BBC drama with Martin Freeman in mind.
Nick welcomes our guests with a negroni while Angela prepares the best bolognese by Martha Collison, a dish specially requested by Martin. Siobhán McSweeney always wanted to be an actor but her parents wanted her to be a teacher. Undeterred, she completed a science degree at University College Cork and moved to London to study at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Siobhán’s big break came in 2018 when she was chosen to play Sister Michael in Derry Girls. The show was a huge hit and Siobhán won a BAFTA for her performance in 2023. Jay Blades, MBE is a furniture restoration expert and TV presenter from Hackney, East London. Jay struggled with dyslexia growing up and found solace using his hands. Dawn O’Porter, the best fish pie and a carignan blanc
Nick and Angela welcome an author and charity co-founder to Dish HQ.
Dawn O’Porter was born in Scotland but grew up in Guernsey with her aunt and uncle. She spent three years at the Liverpool School for Performing Arts but decided that acting wasn’t for her and got into TV instead. Dawn made her name making documentaries, which explored topics like dieting, dating, pregnancy and polyamory. She moved to LA and met her husband, actor Chris O’Dowd. In 2013, Dawn published her first novel Paper Aeroplanes and has released several books since, including the Sunday Times best-seller, The Cows in 2016. She is one of the founding members of the charity Choose Love which helps refugees all over the world.

Florence Pugh, Christmas with an Italian twist
Nick and Angela welcome one of the world’s favourite actors to Christmas dinner at Casa Grimshaw.
Florence Pugh comes from a family of performers and cooks, so it’s no surprise that she has mastered both. Her first big role came in 2016, when she played Katherine in Lady Macbeth and by 2020 she was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actress as Amy March in Little Women. In 2023 Florence starred in and exec produced A Good Person with Morgan Freeman and starred in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. In 2024 we will see her in the highly anticipated Dune 2. Florence loves food and has her own YouTube channel, Cooking with Flo, where her fans can watch her make her favourite meals.
Angela has created a wonderful Christmas menu for Waitrose and you can find all the details and her tips and tricks in Waitrose Food magazine online or in store. Angela prepares a pear, Gorgonzola and red chicory salad to start, followed by roast turkey with rosemary, thyme and lemon butter with an apricot, sausage, sage and almond stuffing. On the side are all the trimmings: roast potatoes with confit garlic, spiced cranberry sauce, turkey gravy, Brussels sprouts with hazelnut pangrattato and orange and honey-glazed carrots. And they finish with Florence’s favourite dessert, tiramisu.
Nick and Florence make cocktails to start and our trio enjoy a Fenaroli Pecorino Superiore and a Villa Antinori Rosso over dinner. The experts at Waitrose also recommend a Waitrose Champagne blanc de noir, which goes perfectly with this Christmas spread.

The eatery was voted the world's best restaurant in 2016 and 2018 and features in the Netflix show, Chef’s Table. Helen McGinn is an award-winning author, drinks writer and TV wine presenter. Having cut her teeth as a supermarket wine buyer, she went on to found a blog, The Knackered Mother’s Wine Club, which has since become a best-selling book. Helen is the much-loved wine expert on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen and writes a monthly wine column for Waitrose Food Magazine.
In this episode, Nick and Angela skip the main course and head straight to the cheese. Richard has won Great British Menu three times and is a regular judge on the BBC series.
Valentine Warner is a cook and food writer. He began his career in food at the Halcyon restaurant in London, working under chefs like Alastair Little and Rose Carrarini before starting his own catering company. He has written several books and his most recent, The Consolation of Food, was released in 2020. These days, Val spends a lot of time at Kitchen On The Edge, an extraordinary food adventure set above the Arctic Circle in the Lofoten Islands.

Writer, actor and composer Tim Minchin was born in the UK and raised in Perth, Western Australia. He gained notoriety when he won the Perrier Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2005 and his (unplanned) career in comedy took off. These days, Tim MInchin is busy collecting accolades for his theatre shows, winning a Tony and an Olivier for Matilda: The Musical. He also picked up a Tony award for Groundhog Day: The Musical which has just returned from Broadway to the Old Vic in London for a limited run.

In 1983 a young lad from Warrington began his professional career on Piccadilly Radio in Manchester. Forty years on and Chris Evans is a legend of TV and Radio broadcasting, with the Big Breakfast, the Radio 1 Breakfast Show and TFI Friday garnering cult status. Chris has also found time to pen some books on his incredible life and his passion, running, which he took up age 47. He now presents the Virgin Radio Breakfast show, weekday mornings from 6.30am.
Chris Evans doesn’t do podcasts, but agreed to appear on DISH (because he loves us) to promote CarFest which is the biggest family fundraising festival in the UK. This week Nick and Angela welcome Charlotte Church to Dish HQ.
Charlotte Church released her debut album Voice of an Angel in 1998 - she was twelve. Since then, she has become one of the most recognisable names in music, selling more than ten million albums worldwide. Charlotte has performed for Queen Elizabeth, the Pope and at George Bush’s inauguration. She fronted The Charlotte Church Show for three seasons and won Best Female Newcomer award at the British Comedy Awards in 2006.
These days, life is entirely different for Charlotte Church and her family. They live in accordance with nature in the heart of rural Wales and Charlotte runs a wellness retreat called The Dreaming.
Nick mixes a raspberry and ginger fizz mocktail while Angela serves a show-stopping savoury cheesecake with balsamic glazed vegetables. Scott fulfilled a childhood dream when he joined BBC Radio 1 in 1998 – and he's now the network's longest serving daytime presenter. Prue Leith, DBE is an octogenarian with no intention of slowing down. Her illustrious career in food includes restaurants, cookery schools, writing and TV. She has published eight novels, a memoir, and fourteen cookbooks. Her latest, Bliss on Toast, was published in 2022.
Best known as a judge on the Great British Bake Off, last year she also presented a gardening programme, Prue’s Great Garden Plot, with her husband, and this year will judge the American equivalent of Bake Off. Dame Prue has also been a judge on The Great British Menu and My Kitchen Rules.
Angela prepares an incredible spread with a little help from a friend, Jeremy Lee’s spring salmagundi (Jersey Royals, asparagus, broad beans, and perfectly boiled eggs) with herby rack of lamb. Emer has been writing and starring in Karen Pirie, a detective drama on ITV and starring in The Curse which you can find on All4.

Adam Hills began performing comedy at 19, toured ten solo shows internationally and presented several TV shows in Australia before he made the move to the UK. The programme was such a hit with viewers that it quickly became a permanent fixture.
Adam is a real foodie and recently opened a restaurant with former Nobu head chef, Scott Hallsworth; Freak Scene is a ‘Pan-Asian punk’ eatery in Parsons Green.

Alex Jones’ route to The One Show couch was far from linear. She began her career by getting fired, twice, but returned to work unphased, prompting the production company to suggest a screen test. Alex aced that and having found her niche, was soon presenting a dating show in Magaluf. Alex joined The One Show in 2010 and appeared on Strictly the following year. She has interviewed stars like Kate Winslet, the Rock and astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who was memorable for many reasons. Alex has also taken part in two incredible Sport Relief challenges, including Hell on the High Seas, which saw six celebrities sail a racing yacht one thousand miles around the UK.
As Alex loves Italian food and is married to an ex-chef, Angela decides to do what she does best, pasta. She prepares puttanesca and reveals how she guarantees a delicious flavour, every time. Nick pours the wine, a No.1 Chianti Classico Riserva Piccini and for dessert, the trio enjoy a tarte aux fruits.

Twitter launched Rob Delaney’s career in comedy and in 2012 he was named Funniest Person on Twitter by Comedy Central. In 2014, Rob and his wife Leah moved their family from Santa Monica to North London so he could co-write and co-star in Catastrophe with Sharon Horgan. The show ran for four series and the pair won a BAFTA for best comedy writer in 2016. Sadly, not long after, Rob’s son Henry was diagnosed with a brain tumour and, at just two and a half, he died. In 2022, Rob released a memoir, A Heart that Works; a deeply moving depiction of the grief that Rob’s family and other families endure and the love that ultimately saves their lives.
To mark Easter and a brand new season, Angela serves Rob a leg of lamb with a delicious mint, parsley and almond pesto, broccoli, green beans and new potatoes. The meal is paired with a Blueprint Rioja, Posadas Hisapanas. Rob discusses his passion for peanut butter, what Tom Cruise is like on set and why he’d rather get naked than cook dinner with his wife.

Angela and Nick host two stars that risked life and limb on reality tv. While studying Engineering at Cambridge, Phil got a sniff of stand-up comedy and was hooked. In 2010 and 2011, he was voted funniest student in the UK and the MBA his mother had always dreamed of, was no longer on the table.
Phil has mastered all mediums, with Netflix specials and comedy panel shows like Taskmaster and Have I Got News For You under his belt. He has written a book, Sidesplitter: How to Be from Two Worlds at Once and has also made us laugh aurally, with programmes on BBC Radio 4 and a podcast series called BudPod with fellow comedian Pierre Novellie.
Wang In There, Baby, is Phil’s brand new tour, hitting the UK and Ireland in March.
Infamous for rating local Asian restaurants on twitter while on tour, Phil keeps Angela on her toes as she carefully prepares some spicy beef and broccoli noodles. Nick pairs the dish with a lager, Birra Moretti.

Nick and Angela welcome young British chef and Potato Queen, Poppy O’Toole.
Michelin-trained internet sensation Poppy Cooks went viral last year and rose to culinary fame when she began posting easy-to-follow recipes on TikTok, including the infamous 15 hour potato. Poppy creates easy-to-follow tutorials which have amassed 300 million views on her channels since April 2020, when she lost her job due to the pandemic. Her debut cookbook Poppy Cooks: The Food You Need, breaks down her fine-dining roots and reimagines them in kitchens at home. In 2022, Poppy was a judge on E4’s show Celebrity Cooking School alongside Giorgio Locatelli and she is currently the newest judge of BBC Three's Young MasterChef, alongside Kerth Gumbs.
Poppy and Angela have more than Chef whites in common. They trekked Peru together raising more than £250,000 for Action Against Hunger in 2022. Angela prepares a light and creamy, smoked aubergine, freekeh & pomegranate salad, with flatbreads. Nick pairs the dish with a citrusy English sparkling wine.

Annie is a force in the music industry. Beloved British actor and now author, Hugh Bonneville visits Nick and Angela at casa Grimshaw.
Hugh has appeared in many iconic films opposite some of the greats of Hollywood, Notting Hill with Julia Roberts, Iris with Judi Dench, The Monuments Men with George Clooney, and the Paddington movies with everyone’s favourite bear.
He’s equally celebrated for his portrayal of Robert Crawley in TV drama Downton Abbey and its film adaptations, for which he received Golden Globe nominations, two Emmys and the cast won three SAG Awards for Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series.
Hugh recently published his debut memoir, Playing Under the Piano: From Downton to Darkest Peru.
It’s fair to say that Mr Bonneville rather hit the jackpot, as Angela Hartnett prepares Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. The special occasion calls for oysters and Champagne to start. Followed by a rosemary & black pepper brined wing rib of beef, flanked by sticky pigs in blankets, gratin dauphinois, maple-roast parsnips and carrots, brussels sprouts with pancetta and a red cabbage slaw. Martin Kemp and a creamy mushroom & cavolo nero pasta
Best known as the bassist in Spandau Ballet, Martin Kemp, alongside his brother, Gary, formed one of the most successful Brit pop bands of the 80s selling over 25 million albums worldwide. In the late 90s, Martin swapped the stage for the small screen and joined EastEnders as bad boy Steve Owen.
These days, Martin and his son Roman are regulars on Celebrity Gogglebox and he has just released his brand new book Ticket to the World: My 80s Story, an evocative memoir and joyous celebration of the culture of the decade.
Happily, Martin is a huge fan of Italian food so Angela prepares a creamy mushroom & cavolo nero pasta. The dish features handmade tagliatelle, a mix of porcini and chestnut mushrooms (with a drop of Marmite), cream and grated Parmigiano. The incredible actor and author David Harewood brings some Hollywood to proceedings this week. Star of stage and screen, he has appeared in major TV shows like The Night Manager with Olivia Colman and Tom Hiddleston, Super Girl and the multi-award winning Homeland with Claire Danes and Damian Lewis. It is on stage, David says that he feels most at home, treading the boards in Othello and King Lear among others.
David’s outstanding memoir Maybe I Don’t Belong Here is out now in paperback. The book tracks his harrowing experience of psychosis in his early twenties and how he has made a full recovery and the lessons it taught him.

Nick and Angela welcome culinary greatness to DISH HQ.
It’s fair to say that this chef, restaurateur and author has transformed the way the world prepares and shares food. Yotam Ottolenghi creates a feast for the eyes (that INSTA grid) and a feast for our tables too. His cuisine is a masterclass in colour and combinations and he champions the humble vegetable like no other. Today he is joined by the esteemed recipe creator and head of his Test Kitchen, Noor Murad.
The pair discuss their new book Ottolenghi Test Kitchen: Extra Good Things, which is full of ‘flexible, flavour-packed dishes that all lend a little something 'extra' to your next meal’. They share their memories of food growing up and give British desserts a very interesting review.
Keen to impress her peers, Angela carefully crafted a rocket and cannellini bean bruschetta followed by a creamy pasta with lemon and chard and washed down with a Blueprint white burgundy.

Everyone’s favourite TV presenter joins Nick and Angela for a meal at DISH HQ.
It’s been ten years since his first appearance on the X Factor and Rylan Clark still has the nation in stitches. He has fronted TV shows like Supermarket Sweep, Ready Steady Cook and currently presents Strictly: It Takes Two with Janette Manrara and Saturday afternoons on BBC Radio 2.
Rylan shares his delight at the return of Big Brother, his obsession with Eurovision and his passion for chicken nuggets. Having just released his second book Ten: The Decade that Changed My Future, Rylan talks candidly about the good times and the not so good times. Her new album ‘Let’s Say For Instance’ is out now.

Comedian Jayde Adams brings her West Country wit to Dish HQ this week.
Dawn French calls her the ‘3rd funniest woman in the world’ and we know why. Her passion for acting, singing and comedy is rivalled only by her fondness for fodder. Scarlett Moffatt and a speedy coconut & prawn curry
Scarlett Moffatt landed in our living rooms in 2014 and has never left. Stars of the smash hit show Gogglebox, the Moffatt family have entertained the nation with their hilarious observations on tv and of course life. Scarlett answered the call of the Jungle and was crowned Queen of I’m a Celebrity in 2016, from there she worked with Ant and Dec on that show and their Saturday Night Takeaway. Right now, you catch her on Celebability with Iain Stirling on the ITV Hub.
Having walked 7000 steps before reaching DISH HQ, Scarlett was starving, so Angela prepared a speedy coconut and prawn curry. Nick poured the prosecco and Scarlett entertained us with snack ideas like scotch eggs with chocolate spread and beans on toast topped with wotsits. Singer songwriter Tom Grennan and hake with roast red pepper sauce
Tom Grennan is a Bedford boy done good. With a flair for football, he pursued a professional career in his teens until the competition proved too stiff. Taking stock, Tom decided to give his other gift a shot. He began gigging around London and got spotted in a pub by a record label. His songs ‘A Little Bit of Love’ and ‘By Your Side’ (with Calvin Harris) were the second and third most played tracks of 2021 and his new tune ‘All These Nights’ is out now.
As Tom is pescatarian, Angela plated up some delicious hake with a roast red pepper sauce made with love by our novice chef Nick. Round the table, Tom tries an olive for the first time, shares his unconventional mash potato recipe and if you thought Grimshaw’s G-Wagon story was good (James May episode) ...wait till you hear what happened to Tom’s brand new wheels.

Actor and comedian Michelle de Swarte and roast lamb with lemon chickpeas
This week Michelle de Swarte brings lots of laughter to the table at Dish HQ.
Our guest is multi-talented! At 19 she swapped South London for the catwalks of NYC. Struggling to find her voice, Michelle left modelling for journalism and began making documentary films with icon and activist Gloria Steinem. Next, she gave stand-up comedy a shot which led her to Katherine Ryan, who she supported on tour and starred alongside on Netflix (The Duchess). In what is only her second acting job, Michelle plays ‘Natasha’ in comedy horror The Baby on Sky Atlantic now.
Angela treats Michelle’s taste buds to some succulent roast lamb with lemon chickpeas paired with a fabulous fleurie. Expect funnies about fashion, microwave meals and what starring opposite a baby has taught her.

Strictly Champion Giovanni Pernice and chicken orzo
Giovanni Pernice glides into the Dish kitchen for a meal with Nick and Angela.
The dancer and choreographer has been a professional on Strictly for seven years and took home the title and trophy with his partner Rose Ayling-Ellis in 2021. Fun fact: Giovanni holds the Guinness World Record for jive, kicks and flicks! He is currently on tour with his TV dad / big brother Anton Du Beke.
Born in Italy in 1990, he celebrates Arancini Day (13th December) every year and proudly professes to making a mean cup of tea – which he only learnt how to do last year!
