Sharon Salzberg has had a deep impact on how meditation is practiced in the West. Actually, her influence far surpasses just the meditative community. Her teachings on loving-kindness and the Buddhist heart practices are the foundation of how we discuss kindness and compassion in the West.
Hailing from New York, Sharon studied with some of the most notable teachers of our generation, including S.N. Goenka, Munindra, Dipa Ma, Sayadaw U Pandita, and Mahasi Sayadaw. In addition to bringing the practices of mindfulness to the West in the early years, she championed the practice of metta.
