Original Tribute to Chip Wickham | Contemporary Spiritual Jazz, Flute Magic & Modal Grooves

Welcome to a brand new edition of Original Tribute, dedicated to one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Spiritual Jazz: UK saxophonist, flutist, and composer Chip Wickham.

Seamlessly bridging the golden modal heritage of the '60s and '70s (from Yusef Lateef to Pharoah Sanders) with the sophisticated aesthetic of modern labels like Gondwana Records and Lovemonk, Wickham delivers a deeply hypnotic, cosmic, and refined sound. This episode journeys through key moments of his repertoire: from the warm modal textures of "La Sombra" and "Shamal Wind", to the timeless harp-infused beauty of "Blue to Red" and the driving energy of "Route One". We also highlight Gondwana gems including "Cloud 10", the fiery Tubby Hayes homage "Tubby Chaser", the uplifting groove of "Love & Life", the spiritual tribute "Astral Traveling", leading into "The Eternal Now" and the serene, nocturnal closing track "Outside".

A sublime, meditative, and sophisticated musical journey.
