26. Critiquing Queen II (1974) with Marv Quibell

In this episode of Sheer Pod Attack, we dive headfirst into the gothic grandeur of Queen II, the album that split the band’s soul into black and white. Our special guest Marv Quibell joins the roundtable to celebrate his favourite Queen record — a swirling mix of fantasy, fury, and layered harmonies that defined the band’s early mystique.

Together, we unpack the album’s mythic duality, from the shimmering innocence of “White Queen” to the thunderous chaos of “Ogre Battle.” Each of us reveals our favourite and least favourite tracks, sparking debate over what makes Queen II both divisive and divine. Expect laughter, deep cuts, and a few surprises as we explore how this 1974 masterpiece still casts its shadow across rock history.

If it’s Friday, it must be time for your weekly Queen fix. It’s time for Sheer Pod Attack.
