In April 1920, as the San Remo Conference carved up the Middle East, Jerusalem erupted in violence. This episode replays the Nebi Musa riots — a three-day explosion that killed a dozen people and wounded hundreds. We track the spark: a nationalist speech by future mufti Haj Amin al-Husseini, the British army's hesitant response, and the role of the Muslim festival of Nebi Musa. We examine how the riots accelerated the politics of the Balfour Declaration, triggered the first military governorship of Herbert Samuel, and transformed Haj Amin from a young firebrand into a central figure.
