In 1915, as World War I raged, a devastating famine swept through Ottoman Syria, including Palestine. This episode explores the complex causes: the Allied naval blockade, locust plagues, Ottoman policies under Jamal Pasha, corruption among local officials, and the severe requisitioning of food and livestock.
