In an era when women were rarely seen in public, Queen Arwa al-Sulayhi ruled Yemen for nearly 50 years (1067–1138), first as co-ruler with her husband and later as sole sovereign. This episode explores how she transformed the Isma'ili da'wa in Yemen, built the magnificent Dar al-'Izz palace in Jibla, and managed a kingdom stretching from the Tihama coast to the highlands.
