We have a special guest in our community today, Mandy, who has faced the challenge of weight gain throughout her life despite being active. At the young age of 19, Mandy was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and later with PCOS. While she managed to lose weight several times, it would always come back over time. Mandy comes from a rural area with limited medical care and endured years of intense stress that made it difficult for her to lose weight and keep it off. At one point, her weight reached 400 lbs. Following the loss of her brother due to complications from bariatric surgery, Mandy was determined to take control of her health and considered traveling to Mexico for bariatric surgery. However, she discovered Mounjaro on TikTok and has since lost an impressive 134 lbs. Today, Mandy bravely shares her story, hoping to inspire others who may feel alone and helpless. Our medical expert for today is Dr. Shelly, an internal medicine doctor, and board-certified obesity specialist who also struggled with obesity in the past. She leverages GLP-1 medication personally but also prescribes them to help her patients to treat their obesity.
