Today's episode is dedicated to addressing a controversial topic - compound pharmacies and GLP-1 medications. The lack of availability and affordability of medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro has become a growing concern. In light of this, The Plus SideZ has invited specialists to educate the community on compounding pharmacies. There is not enough information available on this topic, and our community is in dire need of guidance. Join us as we speak with Dr. Daniel Rosen, Dr. Myra Ahmad, and Dr. Adam Ripley to explore the ins and outs of GLP-1 compounding pharmacies.

Our doctors have provided answers to some common questions regarding compound GLP-1 medications. They have addressed concerns about the safety of these medications and whether compound pharmacies are regulated. They have also explained that not all compound pharmacies are created equal and have highlighted some red flags that patients should look out for. Additionally, our doctors have addressed concerns about where compound pharmacies are sourcing drugs like Semaglutide or Tirzepatide, especially since retail brand manufacturers like Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk have stated that they are not providing these medications to them.

Dr. Daniel Rosen

Daniel J. Rosen, MD – Dr. Rosen is a NYC bariatric surgeon. He specializes in the Lap-Band, Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Bypass, the Orbera Weight Loss Balloon, and Duodenal Switch. Dr. Rosen’s bariatric practice is based on the Upper East Side, serving the greater New York area including Brooklyn, Northern New Jersey, Long Island, and Manhattan.

As a general surgeon, he regularly performs laparoscopic minimally invasive abdominal procedures such as hernia repairs, gallbladder removals, and anti-reflux surgery.

He received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, trained in general surgery at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Center, and completed fellowship training at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He has a dual fellowship in both bariatric surgery and laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Daniel Rosen was born in Brooklyn and completed his undergraduate degree from Cornell University.

Dr. Daniel Rosen is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).  His research has been published in leading surgical journals and is the recipient of multiple awards and recognitions.
