As a young police officer, Matthew Griffin was first on scene and performed CPR on two-and-a-half-year-old Benny Jr., the son of a friend. Benny didn't survive. Matt spent 21 years in the military and law enforcement, and that one call followed him for decades: guilt, nightmares, drinking, and losing his marriage and his identity until he no longer wanted to live.
