Murzban Shroff is a Mumbai-based writer whose fiction has appeared in over 75 literary journals across the USA and UK, including The Gettysburg Review, The Minnesota Review, The Saturday Evening Post, The Chicago Tribune, Blitmag, and World Literature Today.
A recipient of multiple literary awards and seven Pushcart Prize nominations, his debut story collection Breathless in Bombay was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize (Best First Book, Europe and South Asia) and was listed by The Guardian among the 10 best books on Mumbai.
His novel Waiting for Jonathan Koshy was a finalist for the Horatio Nelson Fiction Prize and has been published in India, China, and the USA. His collection Third Eye Rising featured on Esquire's list of the best books of 2021.
In this conversation, Shroff talks about his latest book, Muses of Mumbai—a collection of 17 full-length stories, endorsed by celebrated writers including Salman Rushdie, Jonathan Franzen, Robert Olen Butler, Ben Fountain, Amit Chaudhuri, and Jeet Thayil.
