đď¸ EP38ď˝The Most Dangerous Thing Isnât Being BlindâItâs Following a Blind Guide
Jesus once warned:
âIf the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.â
But was He only talking about physical blindness?
Someone can hold Scripture,
study it for years,
and even teach othersâ
yet still fail to recognize the truth when it appears.
That is a different kind of blindness.
And spiritual deafness is not simply an inability to hear sound.
It is hearing truth
and still being unableâor unwillingâto receive it.
Scripture also repeatedly uses the image of a lamp.
John the Baptist was described as
âa burning and shining lamp.â
A true lamp is not meant to draw attention to itself.
Its purpose is to help people see.
But what happens when the person guiding others
loses the light?
What happens when a teacher
can no longer see the path?
Jesusâ warning becomes uncomfortable:
the danger is not only blindness.
It is blindness with followers.
In this episode,
we explore the biblical symbolism of lamps, blindness, and deafness.
Perhaps spiritual discernment is not about blindly finding someone to followâ
but developing the ability to recognize
who is leading you toward the light, and who is leading you toward the pit.
