S17 Ep890: Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives (1986)

“Oh, they’re not doing re-shoots here…” - Andrew

On this week’s episode, the 2026 Halloween Spooktacular is just getting warmed up as we break down one of our all-time slasher faves, Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives!

How hilarious is this cold open with Tommy Jarvis and Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter? Is there another stunt in this franchise that comes close to the awesome RV flip in this movie? Is this the funniest Friday the 13th script? Has there been a better pop song used in these movies than Alice Cooper’s “He’s Back (The Man Behind the Mask)” that we get at the end credits here? Is that cemetery groundskeeper a fart head? And how about that sheriff’s murder, huh? PLUS: Apparently Thom Mathews and James Karen corresponded with one another long after The Return of the Living Dead kick-started their friendship!

Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives stars Thom Mathews, Jennifer Cooke, David Karen, C.J. Graham, Kerry Noonan, Renée Jones, Tom Fridley, Darcy DeMoss, Vincent Guastaferro, Tony Goldwyn, Nancy McLoughlin, Alan Blumenfeld, Matthew Faison, Ann Ryerson, Whitney Rydbeck, and the late Ron Palillo as Allen Hawes; directed by Tom McLoughlin.
