Welcome to ’60 Minutes or less’ - a podcast from Birthday Cake For Breakfast - where for episode 68, it’s a delight to welcome back Alex Edkins of METZ and Weird Nightmare!

One of the earlier guests in the life of ’60 Minutes or less’ (having appeared on episode 8), there’s been quite a bit of change for Edkins since then, notably power-trio METZ calling it a day in late 2024. With it being maybe a final chance to see them, It was a total joy to fly to Berlin to catch one of their farewell shows - a perfect send-off for three noise-rock heroes.

With a new Weird Nightmare album on the horizon (‘Hoopla’ - out May 2026 via Sub Pop and Dine Alone Records), I caught up with Alex over Zoom in April 2026 to talk about the METZ “indefinite hiatus”, appearing on TV with John Mulaney and Richard Kind, British punks and Weezer hot takes.
