Awakening on a Stranger Shore (Homer’s The Odyssey, Book 13 – Part 6)
Om avsnittet
Homecoming does not arrive with certainty or comfort. Odysseus wakes at last—but recognition eludes him.
In this passage of The Odyssey, Odysseus rises from sleep on his native land of Ithaca, yet the goddess Athene has veiled the country in mist, making all things seem strange. Confused and alarmed, he questions where he has been brought, fears betrayal, and laments aloud, unsure whether he stands among the just or the hostile.
This moment matters because the return has begun, but not with triumph—Odysseus must first endure doubt, concealment, and misjudgment before reclaiming what is truly his.
