Matthew 6:1-6,16-21 — Do This in Secret (Ep.019), A. Ash Wednesday

Here Jesus talks about giving to the needy (the poor), praying and fasting in secret.

We should not do these things so that other people will see us. We do these things in secret so that only God will see us. The reward will be that we will be closer to God and we will have a character that is more like Jesus. Jesus also says “for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”. Lasting treasures are a close relationship with God and a Christ-like character. Wow! This is quite a good challenge for us in the season of lent. We can fast, pray, reflect quietly to please God and to grow in character.
