TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE:

John 15:9–11 - As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. [10] If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. [11] These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. (ESV)

SUMMARY

Jesus anchors assurance in a single claim: he loves us as the Father loves him. We show how belief and obedience form the path of abiding that leads to a deeper, fuller joy, then we end with a simple nighttime prayer of trust.

Lord, help us help our unbelief. Teach us how to believe that Jesus has loved us with your magnificent love and that it's meant to give us joy, that our joy could be full as we walk in obedience, abiding in the love of Jesus. Lord, put us to bed tonight with that resolution in our hearts that we will abide in Jesus when we wake up.
