TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE:

1 Peter 2:9

[9] But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (ESV)

SUMMARY

We slow down at the end of the day and let 1 Peter 2:9 tell us what is true about us in Christ: chosen, royal, holy, and God’s own possession. We reflect on God’s rescue from darkness into marvelous light and ask for fresh assurance when we feel like we failed.

 
• pondering identity given by Jesus rather than earned 
• seeing “chosen race” as a shared, corporate reality 
• understanding “royal priesthood” as pointing people to God 
• tracing Peter’s language back to Exodus and Sinai promises 
• recognizing God’s plan to include Jews and Gentiles together 
• resting in God’s love after a stressful day 
• praying for reminder and Spirit-empowered change
