In The Odyssey, Book 10 continues as Odysseus sails for nine uninterrupted days, holding the course himself until Ithaca comes into view. While he sleeps, his crew convinces themselves that Aeolus’ sealed wallet hides treasure meant only for their captain. Acting on envy and suspicion, they open it, unleashing the winds and driving the ships violently back out to sea.
