535 - Saw 5 (2008) Guest: Matt Benever

Aw baby we are back in the torture chamber! Host Alec Lawless and returning guest Matt Banever continue their journey through the Saw franchise with Saw V (2008), and things are starting to go off the rails faster than a Jigsaw trap with questionable engineering. Alec is officially entering uncharted territory, while Saw expert Matt guides him through Detective Hoffman’s growing role, Agent Strahm’s desperate investigation, and a group of five unfortunate souls learning the hard way that teamwork is apparently a foreign concept. We break down the gruesome traps, ridiculous plot holes, tangled timelines, and the increasingly complicated web of flashbacks connecting the franchise together. Plus, we discuss Jigsaw’s questionable hiring practices, Billy the Puppet’s unexplored backstory, why nobody seems to be monitoring these death traps, and the very important question: Who the hell is building these underground torture escape rooms?! Is Saw V the franchise’s weakest entry so far, or is there still some method to Jigsaw’s madness? Tune in for brutal traps, franchise deep dives, questionable logic, and plenty of laughs as we continue our torturous journey toward the next installment.
